Sony Music Publishing (Japan) Inc. (head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Junzo Tsukuda, Representative Director: Charles Mikami, hereafter referred to as SMP), a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. (head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and President: Shunsuke Muramatsu), announces the acquisition of all (100%) stock for Alfa Music Inc. (hereafter Alfa) as its subsidiary, effective Monday, April 1, 2019.

Alfa was founded in 1969as a music publishing company and has remained in the forefront of the Japanese music scene, working with various artists to create many iconic classics in Japanese music history. SMP has provided global copyright management services for Alfa since April 2001, managing copyright of, developing, and promoting Alfa repertoire. Sony Music Direct (Japan) Inc., a subsidiary of our company, has also been releasing reissues and compilations of Alfa’s original recordings.

We continue our dedication to support Alfa repertoire, a leading force in Japan's popular music, in utilizing the various resources available to Sony Music Group and our expertise in the IP business to reach beyond generations of music fans around the world.
