Sony Music Publishing (SMP) is a music publisher providing services in copyright administration, development, and promotion for Japanese and international repertoire in Japan.
Besides general copyright administration and development and promotion of repertoire licensing opportunities, SMP provides a broad range of services related to copyright and neighboring rights management including scouting and management of lyricists, songwriters, and other artists, developing and supporting exclusive composers, production of music in games, movies, and anime, and management of music library databases.
SMP has a sub-publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and other international publishers to administrate international repertoire in Japan, counting a total of 3.2 million Japanese and international tracks to work with as of March 2020.
For the convenience of rights holders in both Japan and internationally, SMP utilizes the web-based “ROANSY” system, providing copyright distribution data with statistic capabilities online.
