ANIPLEX, Inc. to acquire full share of ORIGAMIX PARTNERS, Inc. and relaunch the company under the name MYRIAGON STUDIO, Inc.

Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. (HQ in Chiyoda, Tokyo, President & CEO: Shunsuke Muramatsu) announced today its subsidiary Aniplex, Inc. (HQ in Chiyoda, Tokyo, CEO: Atsuhiro Iwakami, “Aniplex”) will acquire full share of Origamix Partners, Inc. (HQ in Shibuya, Tokyo, CEO: Nobuhiko Ito, “Origamix”), and relaunch the company under the name MYRIAGON STUDIO, Inc.(“MYRIAGON”) as of June 1, 2023. The acquisition of the full share is to be finalized as of June 1.
MYRIAGON, which will start operations as a new company, will newly engage in producing live-action projects in addition to its existing talent agent and IP development businesses.
Its live-action production will focus on developing and producing contents aiming at the global market, with creators (producers, scriptwriters and directors) as the core, such as Shinsuke Sato, who currently belongs to Origamix and has directed the Netflix series "Alice in Wonderland" and the film franchise "Kingdom",
As part of the launch of operations as a new company, MYRIAGON will enter into a strategic partnership with a content studio IMAGINUS established in 2021 by Jinnie Choi, a former CEO of Studio Dragon in South Korea. Based on this partnership, Choi will become an executive advisor to MYRIAGON, with the aim of building a strong Asian premium production network together.
Together with creators, stakeholders, and employees, we will work for the further growth of the new company and the development of the live action film business for entire Sony Music Group (Japan).

About Shinsuke Sato
Born on Sept. 16, 1970 in Hiroshima.
After directing GANTZ (2011), Library Wars(2013 & 2015), and I am a Hero (2016), Sato directed live action adaptation of Kingdom(2019) and won 44th Hochi Award for Best Director and received nomination for 43rd Japanese Academy Award. Kingdom 2 was released in 2022 to become the No. 1 Box Office hit for live action film the same year in Japan
Season 2 of the NETFLIX Series Alice in Borderland (season 1, 2020, season 2, 2022) topped 200 million streaming-hours in the first four weeks after release, which is the highest record for Japan-produced NETFLIX series ever. It ranked in the Top 10 in 90+ countries and regions, No. 1 in 17 countries and regions.
