The SME Rokubancho Building, accommodating the headquarters of Sony Music Group (Japan) and located at 4-5, Rokubancho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, has been certified by Chiyoda-ku as a business operating on 100% renewable electricity.
Zero CO2 emissions from power generation for operations
As part of its initiative to preserve the environment, Sony Music Group (Japan) switched the electricity supply for the SME Rokubancho Building to 100% renewable on April 1, 2022, which eliminated CO2 emissions from power generation for the building’s operations.
- * The estimated amount of the CO2 reduction is around 1,000 metric tons CO2 equivalent per year.
Comment from the representative of the Environment Section in the Sustainability Division
We discussed what we can do as a company to prevent global warming and decided to move to 100% renewable energy because electricity is used by everyone working in the building and thus has the most impact on its carbon footprint. We are going to apply this to other offices that have not adopted renewable energy sources to further reduce emissions of the greenhouse gas.
